Ma-Wee rice (Oryza sativa) is a reddish-brown rice variety with a unique texture that is low in carbohydrates, and rich in protein and fibre.

Pachchaperumal is one of heirloom rice in Srilanka. Alternatively named as ‘Siyapath el’. This is the most grown variety of traditional rice in the Island.
