Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) Amalaki(Phyllanthus emblica) Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) Vibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) Chandana (Santalum album) Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa) Kantakari(Solanum surattense).

Ashwagandha oil is used for strengthening the muscles when they are tired from overuse or underdeveloped. It is a combination of ashwagandha, sesame oil and white sandal. Sesame oil containshigh levels of minerals, including calcium and magnesium renowned for soothing the nervous system. According to the Ayurvedic point of view Ashwagandha oil is specific for vata disorders associated with dry skin, muscular spasms and pain.

Ashwa means horse in Sanskrit, and Ashwagandha oil imparts the strength and vitality of a horse to one that uses it. Generally, Ashwagandha is a potent rejuvenator of tissues, calmer of the nerves, and general tonic. Here, blended in Sesame oil and White Sandalwood oil, its effects are mobilized for a soothing massage treatment of the head or body. The benefits of Ashwagandha combine with the soothing, grounding, and aromatic effects of sesame and white sandalwood oil to create a potent tonic for the muscles and nerves.

Ashwagandha has a heating energy and sweet post-digestive effect. The heating energy of Ashwagandha benefit nerves which have been tired by excess vata by relaxing them. Vata imbalance, which is cold and dry in effect, can be the result of stress, anxiety, grief or dehydration and over-work of the muscles and the senses.

The heat of Ashwagandha benefits these nerves and stimulates their metabolic and anabolic processes. Though its post-digestive effect might not seem relevant for its external application, Ayurvedic medicine understands the digestive power of all parts of the body, even the skin. The heating energy of Ashwagandha benefits combine with the sweet post-digestive effect which is moistening and nutritive to the tissues, and they work synergistically to support tissue regeneration and revitalization. The nutritive effect provides food for digestion and regeneration, while the moist effect facilitates these processes by counteracting the dryness often already present from an aggravated vata and balancing the potentially additional drying effect of the heat.

Sesame oil is regarded as one of the most sattvic, or wise, oils in ayurvedic medicine, as it brings balance and clarity to the mind and the consciousness of the body. Ashwagandha side effects are few. It is very effective in the treatment of Vata and for nourishing the nervous system, and is rich in minerals and vitamins including magnesium, copper, calcium, iron, zinc, vitamin B6, and omega-6 fatty acids. These qualities render it a particularly effective ally to the benefits of Ashwagandha for the soothing and nourishing of the muscles and nerves. As the naturally calming and grounding effects of sesame oil augment those of Ashwanganda, and the vitamins and minerals serve a range of metabolic and nutritive functions in the surface muscles. In addition, these minerals and constituents of sesame oil give it antioxidant and anti-depressant effects, which further encourage mental acuity and awareness and bring about a sense of well-being.

White Sandalwood has a long history of use in ayurvedic medicine and Indian culture. It is known worldwide for its heavenly scent, and has consequently been used to bring the divine to mind and body for millennia. Besides its soothing aroma, sandalwood oil cleans and moisturizes the skin and the passageways of the body.

This helps one to release both stress and the toxic build-up which perpetuates it. It is effective for a variety of skin problems from dryness and cracking to bacterial and oleic build-up. It generally helps restore the balance of moisture and nervine flow. Sandalwood is also regarded as a sattvic oil blessing one with the divine attributes of balance and clarity.

Ashwagandha oil is a blend of three powerful plants which collaborate to effect the synergistic revitalization of mind and body. Each component works to calm the nerves and increase the flow of psychic energy throughout the body, while individually providing their own unique complement necessary for the regeneration of worn tissues.

Ashwagandha provides nourishment while sesame and sandalwood provide minerals and vitamins. Together they render a potent massage treatment for the stressed, anxious, and overworked. Consequently, there are many uses of Ashwagandha oil. It is great for local and full-body massages, day or night. In oil, Ashwagandha dosage is mild but sufficient to confer its benefits. Ashwagandha oil is safe to use liberally without risk of side effects.
